April 2006 - Beechworth Forest North East Victoria: Tributary of Yackandandah Creek inside Nine Mile Creek, Clear Creek and Hurdle Creek (Lake Kerferd) Proclaimed Water Supply Catchments (13/6/79). This catchment has been heavily logged in the past 5 years. Hancock Plantations in the Beechworth area will be using upwards of 35,000 ML (ML = 1 million litres) of water per year. Thousands of hectares have been logged in the past 5 years.
This Google Earth image was taken in April 2001. The plantations being logged in April 2006 lie approximately where the yellow mark on the left of the photo is. The Beechworth plantations extend about 5-6 km east to west and as the above image show, had already been extensively logged by the start of the decade.
April 2006: Otway Ranges - Gellibrand Water Supply Catchment. Pine plantation being logged by Hancock in close proximity to Stephensons Falls, one of the regions favourite tourist destinations. The Gellibrand River supplies over 50,000 people with drinking water.

April 2006: This plantation is about 2km south of the town of Bright in Victoria's north east. The plantation is in full view of tourists in the Morses Creek catchment. Across the ridge erosion had been occurring. See here for more information
