July 2012 Updates

July 2012 - Strzelecki Ranges/College Creek - Cores and Links Rainforest Reserve: Spot spraying of native regeneration (Hop Goodenia - Goodenia ovata) inside rainforest reserve. Why?

July 2012 - Strzelecki Ranges/College Creek - Cores and Links Rainforest Reserve: Potentially hundreds of hectares of natural regenerating forest will be sprayed in Cores and Links Rainforest Reserve. It would save everyone money, time and stress if nature was allowed to take its course and College Creek allowed to regenerate naturally, instead of being exposed post logging to spraying, bulldozing and burning.

July 2012 - Strzelecki Ranges/College Creek - Cores and Links Rainforest Reserve: Sprayers targeting Hop Goodenia which is not a weed - [definately not blackberry and the sprays were used in winter, not summer]

"... the only time we use herbicide in the cores and links and in the College Creek area is for the eradication of noxious species...We use a mix of herbicides, but the time that we would use any herbicides would for the eradication of blackberries and that occurs between November and March and that is part of the strategy for the Cores and Links is to eradicate noxious weeds and in particular Blackberry to create the rainforest reserve that people desire up there on the Cores and Links." Hancock General Manager Owen Trumper October 8 2009 ABC Radio
